The Granary

The precious grain was stored here.   It was transferred in hessian bags from the courtyard with a pulley.  This was in the 19th century but the pulley marks are still visible above the windows.  On the ground the wheat was stored by the ton.  We had to re-do the floor as it had sagged, with time, under the weight of those hessian bags, packed with the precious grain.  The timber frames and the double exposure will plunge you back into those golden times, but with the pleasures of modern-day comforts such as a balneo corner bath.  Perfect for relaxing after a hard day’s work or a bike ride along the Mayenne river!
